About
Jennifer Abrahamson MACP, CCC, RCT-C

Originally from British Columbia, I made my home in Nova Scotia in 2015. I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I am a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I have worked as a counsellor in various post-secondary settings and at the Colchester Sexual Assault Centre as a trauma counsellor.
My clients experience a variety of struggles including stress depression, anxiety, relationship issues, body image difficulties. My approach is collaborative and holistic and we will work together to find strategies that work best for you. I most often work from a person-centered, trauma-informed approach, with an emphasis on self-compassion. My personal experience has driven my passion for working with individuals with hearing loss (and other disabilities including chronic illness and pain), as well as their families.
I have received training to support clients develop assertiveness and coping skills, work through trauma, and cultivate self-acceptance and self-love. I also continue to engage in learning to support LGBTQ2S+ and BIPOC individuals.
I offer in-person in Hammonds Plains and Bedford, NS and I am also pleased to offer online counselling to those that may not be able to access in-person counselling for a variety of reasons.
